This article was provided by 'Plant Growers Australia'
Botanical Name: Solanum rantonnetii 'Golden Robe'
Size: Height to 1.2m x Spread to 1m
Aspect: Full sun.
Flowering: Throughout warmer months. A hardy, small shrub producing masses of deep purple, yellow centred flowers which contrast beautifully against the unique golden variegated foliage. Flowering is most prolific during the warmer months. Suited to most garden styles and situations.
Uses: Ideal for creating an attractive and permanent backdrop for smaller shrubs and perennials. Adds year round colour to the garden with its golden foliage.
Cultural Notes: A full sun location is preferred although 'Golden Robe' will grow in light shade. Soil should be well drained. Water deeply during extended dry periods and apply a slow release fertiliser during spring according to manufacturers instructions. A light prune after main flower flushes will help maintain a neat, compact shape as well as encourage further flower production.
