This article was provided by 'Plant Growers Australia'
Botanical Name: Erica species 'Woodleigh'
Common Name: Heath
Size: Height 80cm x Spread 50cm
Aspect: Full sun.
Flowering: Late summer through to autumn. The dense clusters of dainty bell-shaped flowers produced on this small evergreen shrub are borne in profusion from summer well into autumn. The soft mauve to pink flowers offer gardeners a change from the normal reds, yellows and russet tones normally associated with the autumn season.
Uses: A splendid accent plant for rockeries or garden beds. An acid lover it is ideal for planting in beds of plants with similar requirements such as rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, gardenias and the like.
Cultural Notes: Will grow well in most soil types providing it is free draining and free of lime. A full sun location is preferred. To maintain shape prune after flowering removing approximately one third of the overall size. An application of slow release fertiliser during spring is beneficial. An occasional deep watering during extended dry periods is advisable.
