The Rose Company is steeped in history and goes back to 1947 when Ivan Comley relates how he started with 60ft of hose, a pocket knife and a hand hoe and a love of Roses. In 1947 he leased 5 acres of land at Underdale in South Australia and since the time has developed the business to be one of the largest of producers and distributors of roses in Australia. Roslyn developed the same passion for roses as her father and established The Rose Company in 1985, since then the business has steadily grown exporting nationally and overseas to the Asia/Pacific region.
Swanes Nursery Pty Ltd. has been operating for 80 years in the production and marketing of Horticultural Products. Located at Dural, New South Wales, the retail, wholesale and production divisions have been in operating since 1960. Previously the nursery was located at Ermington, New South Wales, where it was commenced in 1919 by Edgar (Ted) Swane now deceased. The Directors of Swanes are Mr Ben Swane, who has served the company and horticultural industry for over 50 years. In every respect the Rose symbolizes our Australian Athlete's with the strong colour and determination to be the best in the year 2000.
